CREATIVE EXPRESSION

STEVEN, 17 YEARS OLD
"I enjoyed my time working with the actors at About the Work as I was able to gain more knowledge of the mentality to have before acting. It was also nice to learn the basic fundamentals when it comes to positioning yourself in front of a crowd and how to express emotion through body language.”

"Seeing my students working with the acting coaches and learning how to use their bodies to create a character was fantastic. Learning to understand and use the chakras to show how their character feels without having to “play and emotion” was very helpful and reinforced their classroom learning. It was a joy to see students feel safe to explore outside their comfort zone and employ skills they’ve learned in the classroom through lessons learned in the About the Work Master Class. Coaches supported students' learning and exploration by providing opportunities for students to engage in critical conversations around character development, character relationships, and story arc as well as the chance to perform and put those skills into practice."

"When I was growing up, I yearned for an environment that would nurture my artistic expression but I didn’t really get that until I got to Boston University’s College of Fine Arts.
I wish I had a place that bottled up that incredible bond that happens when you do the school play or musical where I could expand and grow during my high school years. That is why I created the TV/Film Summer Acting Intensive for teens. Nothing brings me more joy than to see a student step into their confidence and shine!"
